We all need a pick-me-up from time to time, and what better place to find inspiration than the Bible?

Family. Friends. Excellent choices. But I like to go straight to the top: God’s Word. Then go to family and friends. Don’t want to shortchange their importance.

Here’s 40 inspiration verses I often turn to when I’m discouraged:

Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Joshua 1:9

“I’ve commanded you to be brave and strong, haven’t I? Don’t be alarmed or terrified, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Ezra 10:4

“Rise up … take courage and do it.”

Psalm 9:9

“The Lord is a safe place for the oppressed — a safe place in difficult times.”

Psalm 16:8

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”

Psalm 23:1-3
